  Prof Ilse Truter

Ilse Truter is a full professor in the Department of Pharmacy and Leader of the Drug Utilisation Research Unit (DURU) at Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University. Ilse holds doctorates in Pharmacy and Business Management, is a registered pharmacist with the South African Pharmacy Council, an NRF-rated researcher, and has authored 94 peer-reviewed research publications, 3 chapters in books and 163 manuscripts in professional journals. She has supervised 46 postgraduate students. Prof Truter was the recipient of the NMMU Distinguished Teacher Award 2014, and the NMMU Research Excellence Award in 2016. She is a board member of the South African Association for Health Educationalists (SAAHE), ISPOR(SA) and serves on the PSSA Committee (Cape Midlands Branch). Ilse is a member of the International Society for Pharmacoepidemiology and is the liaison for Africa on the Special Interest Group: Drug Utilisation Research. She is a founding member of the Medicines Utilisation Research in Africa (MURIA) group.
