Adv. Phelelani Khumalo
Advocate is not new in the Health fraternity. He previously held the position of Chief Director: Legal Services at the National Department of Health for a number of years. In this role he supervised the provision of legal advisory service to all branches, clusters, directorates, the Director: General, and Ministry of the National Department of Health.
Adv Khumalo holds the following qualifications - National Diploma in Police Administration Technikon SA, Bachelor of Law (LLB) University of Natal, Master of Laws (Business Law) (LLM) University of Natal, Bachelor of Philosophy (Honors) (Knowledge and Information Management) Stellenbosch University and a Masters Degree in Diplomatic Studies from the University of Pretoria.
In 2003, he was admitted as an Advocate of the High Court and had been involved in pro bono litigation representing the underprivileged under the auspices of the University of Natal Law Clinic.
He was also honoured with a lifetime membership award from Golden Key International, this is a global organization that connect high-achieving individuals locally, regionally & globally with lifetime opportunity, reward & success. It focuses on academic excellence, leadership development and community service.
Currently, Advocate Khumalo has taken the position of Acting Registrar/CEO of the Health Professions Council of South Africa.
