Welcome to the
3rd National Pharmacy Conference

On behalf of the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) and the organising committee, it is a pleasure to invite you to the 3rd National Pharmacy Conference to be held on 3-6 October 2019 at Sun City, South Africa.

It is with the realisation that the National Development Plan’s vision for universal access to quality healthcare calls for the pharmacy industry, as an integral part of the healthcare system, to actively participate in shaping the envisioned future and ensuring that the profession is responsive to the changing healthcare environment brought on by technological innovation and changing patient needs, that the SAPC theme for the 3rd National Pharmacy Conference: “Plugged-in, engaged, be a catalyst for change”.

In the spirit of this theme, as pharmacists we are reminded that we have to be plugged-in and engaged in shaping how the industry responds to the ever-changing environment in which we practise, and ensure that we are drivers/catalysts for change that ensures that pharmacy continues to be an integral part in delivering quality healthcare outcomes for our patients. And what better way to do this than through a national, multi-stakeholder, and unified forum in the form of the 3rd National Pharmacy Conference?

Following on the successes of the 1st and 2nd National Pharmacy Conferences, which saw delegate volumes grow from just above 700 in 2013 to well over 1 000 in 2016, the 3rd National Pharmacy Conference promises to be one of the most meaningful intellectual dialogues and development efforts in the healthcare sector on the continent.

As always, this conference will be a gathering of pharmacists and pharmacy support personnel from all sectors of the profession characterised by robust engagements around the developments in the industry, challenges it faces and how to navigate these, as well as to share knowledge and best practises in this ever-changing environment.

Registration is currently open for delegates at www.sapcconference.za.org/registration
