  Ms Nocawe Thipa

 

 

Ms Nocawe Thipa is the acting CEO: Gauteng Medical Supplies Depot and Chief Director: Gauteng Pharmaceutical Services & Clinical Support Services. She represents the Gauteng Province at the National Essential Medicine List Committee. She is a Ministerial appointee to the South African Pharmacy Council where she serves as a treasurer as well as a trustee in the Council’s Board of Trustees. In the Province, Ms Thipa oversees the running of the Pharmaceutical Services policy and planning unit, Provincial Institutional Pharmacies and the Medical Supplies Depot.

She chairs the Gauteng Provincial Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee. She is also responsible for the monitoring of the services offered by the National Health Laboratory Services (NHLS) and The South African National Blood Services (SANBS) to the Gauteng Department of Health. She chairs the Gauteng Provincial Laboratory and Blood User’s Committee.

Previously, in the Eastern Cape, Ms Thipa worked as a pharmacist in community pharmacy, an institutional pharmacy pharmacist and later as a manager in public service pharmaceutical services where she managed a complex of hospitals in Port Elizabeth and represented the Eastern Cape Province at the National EML Committee. Ms Thipa worked as a Drug Utilisation Review pharmacist at a Prescription Benefit Management pharmacy (Direct Medicines) in East London before joining the then Afrox Mercantile Private Hospital (now Life Mercantile Private Hospital).
