BPharm, MPH, PhD

Dr Hazel Bradley BPharm, MPH, PhD is a pharmacist working as a Senior Lecturer at the School of Public Health, University of the Western Cape. Hazel trained as a pharmacist in the UK and after relocating to South Africa in 1994 moved into the field of Public Health. She currently combines these two disciplines through her teaching and research and is leading a new area of specialisation in Pharmaceutical Public Health.

This includes the development of a suite of face-to-face short courses and online masters-level modules in Pharmaceutical Public Health with a focus on rational use, supply chain management and pharmaceutical policy, in collaboration with academics and practitioners from South Africa and Boston University. Hazel’s doctoral research used a systems approach to explore district and sub-district pharmacists’ roles and competencies and she has contributed to several International Pharmacy Federation (FIP) global reports on pharmacists and pharmacy-support workers.
